Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the government has a plan ready for compensation for damages from the floods that affected the country in recent days.
Speaking on his podcast "Flasim", Rama said that the level of damage during the recent floods is many times smaller than that of the floods that occurred 10 years ago, thanks to very large investments in infrastructure.
"'You will never be alone' is my motto and ours whenever we face a disaster. I want to tell those affected by this disaster that we stand by them for their homes and livelihoods, for the repair of any damage we face. The plan with scenarios for compensation is now ready and the start of their distribution is expected after the results of the field verification", said Rama.
Rama also said that legal measures will be taken against people who throw garbage in areas other than designated areas. In addition to weather conditions and infrastructure, Rama also blamed citizens, who, as a result of throwing garbage into drainage canals, bear a good share of the responsibility for the floods.
"But beyond the atmospheric vortex, climate change, the amount of precipitation that in four days was as much as the average for January, that is, 30 days of precipitation, in the last five years, the human factor has its weight. It has its weight for good or for bad, just as infrastructure has its weight for good or for bad. Not to stop, but to make these extraordinary masses of snowfall and floods more controllable.
While we, as a government, are clear about the need to continue investing in the country's defense system, I honestly don't know how to deal with the extreme disregard for nature that we as a people manifest every moment! Yes, frankly, we as a people! The staggering flows of plastic from rivers in these cases are frightening, they are disgusting, they are criminal in the full sense of the word.
Throwing bottles and plastic bags on the streets, as if this country were not our common homeland, but a garbage can in a territory that does not belong to us, with which we have no connection, where, wherever we feel like, we release dung like cows, the remains of our consumption, is something that completely covers with dung the flag of our independence as a state, the history book of our centuries-old efforts as a nation to live in our state, the face of each of us as people of this people and as citizens of Europe, who bear the Albanian name, which we rightly bear with pride on many occasions, which we rightly feel as the key word that makes us feel proud when you are in the stadium, but which we desecrate, the Albanian name, desecrating Albania, desecrating the nature of Albania, desecrating the face of Albania.
We as a government and as a popular majority, however, will not give up, and we will continue to come up with new measures against this power of darkness in our brains like millets, increasing efforts for awareness, information, but also punishment as well. But in all cases it is necessary for everyone to be vigilant because what is happening and what we do to Albania, by throwing a plastic bottle or throwing a plastic bag on the street, has only one word that defines it, CRIME , "said Rama.
