Prime Minister Edi Rama has expressed reservations regarding EU procedures for the treatment of immigrants, as he refers to the two camps that will be built in Gjadër and Shengjin.
Although the opening of these two immigrant reception centers was supposed to take place on May 20, this did not happen due to the delay in starting the works.
Prime Minister Edi Rama in an interview for "La Republica" spoke about this postponement, which according to him is due to the Italian state.
"All things are only Italian, Albania offered availability and land, but nothing more." Rama expresses skepticism about the policies that will be followed by the EU and Italy for the prosperity and functioning of these two camps. “My friend, the center will be ready in a few months anyway, this is nothing. But the problem will be its operation. And it will be very difficult for the procedures: how will 3000 people be managed in 28 days with the Italian bureaucracy and European rules?", he said. According to the prime minister, there will be appeals, there will be blockages. And this is not the only problem: "Even this Mattei plan... how to carry it forward? Yes, you can make deals, open centers in Tunisia or Libya. But do you know how much money is at stake in migrant smuggling on those shores? And everything is managed very high", he added.
