The Democratic Party ignored the ultimatum given by the leader of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, and for the fourth time in a row, their seats remained empty on the Special Commission on Territorial Reform.
The socialist majority responds to the opposition boycott by undoing and dissolving the co-chairmanship formula and the right of veto.
The co-chair of this committee, Arbjan Mazniku, commented on this decision of the majority on the Breaking show on Top News, saying that the Socialist Party has accepted every condition set by the opposition.
"I believe that the public has seen it for themselves, they have their own eyes and ears. The commission was one of the reforms that Parliament intended to adopt. Since the first months of the beginning of this parliamentary session, we have had a negotiation session with the Democratic Party. They initially requested to have the same number of members, this issue was accepted by the majority, despite the fact that the ratio in Parliament was not equal. Equality in the commission was accepted. They then requested co-chairmanship, this was also accepted. Practically all the conditions they set were accepted.
The commission was created. The opposition did not come to the first meeting. In the other two meetings, which were working meetings, where the agenda had to be approved, we had to go to the field, we had to analyze the way forward, we had to meet all the municipalities, we have not acted, we have not moved for two months, because the opposition has not come to the meeting.
This was the fourth meeting that the opposition has not come. As long as equality and co-chairmanship in the commission become a mechanism that hinders the advancement of work, then this is no longer an agenda of good faith. This is an agenda to have these numbers to fail the reform, which we as a country cannot do.
"We are on a certain path towards the EU. In 2027 we will close negotiations with the EU and in 2029 we will be a member state," Mazniku said, among other things, in front of journalist Dafina Hysa.
