"Choosing between the EU and the swamp, the swamp, means you are not good... Politically you are autistic, you are not good." This is what Prime Minister Edi Rama said during the May 11 electoral campaign from Gjirokastra.

This statement was accompanied by numerous reactions and led Edi Rama to post a video on social media in the late hours of Tuesday in which he apologized.

"It's late, but I can't help but share this reflection. To err is human, but not to apologize when you're wrong is not manly. Completely unintentionally today I offended autistic children and probably hurt their parents by talking about political autism, an expression that has stuck in my mind somewhere because it has been used often in political and academic literature and came to me today completely unintentionally. Here I had to make a mistake and then learn that for years it has been considered inappropriate and in fact quite rightly so. Therefore, I apologize and guarantee that I have not only respect, but admiration for them and all parents of children with special or special abilities, which has prompted me to urge the doubling of support from the government.

"As for the laziness that I have behind me and that grabbed onto autistic children like a drowning man after a blade of grass to gain some points in the eyes of those honorable parents, this will be one more motivation for me to spend all my energy until May 11 to teach them the lesson they deserve for all their countless misdeeds at the expense of this country and this people ," said Rama.
