The Tepelena Municipality Council met this Wednesday, where it unanimously approved the resignation of Mayor Tërmet Peçi, who will be part of the list for MP in the Gjirokastër District in the May 11 elections.

After approving Peç's resignation, the council appointed Deputy Mayor Julinda Karteri as acting mayor of the Municipality of Tepelena.

Carter will lead the institution until the end of her term, while in her speech before the council, she committed to the normal continuity of the administration's work and the fulfillment of projects in the service of citizens.

"In accordance with Law 39/2015 on local self-government, the Municipal Council has the competence and functions of the mayor until the next local elections. Based on this law, the majority of the municipal council has voted for me as mayor-designate," said Karteri.
Meanwhile, the names of the candidates for the Gjirokastër Region from the ranks of the Socialist Party are expected to be made official at the Assembly of this political force, which will meet at 19:00.
