The Presidency of the Freedom Party today approved the decision of the President of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, to run for MP on the open list of the "Democratic Party-Alliance for a Greater Albania" coalition in the parliamentary elections on May 11, 2025.

Initially, it was discussed that Meta, due to his circumstances, being under arrest, would be placed on the safe list of the coalition led by the Democratic Party.

However, it seems that Meta's determination has prevailed over the stance of the Freedom Party Presidency, demanding to be on the open list.

From the negotiations between the DP and PL to establish a coalition agreement, it was widely reported that the parties had reached an agreement for the party led by the former President of the Republic to receive 4 MPs on the safe lists.
