Another mayor of "Reestablishment" addressed the Prime Minister Edi Rama with an open letter asking him that the immigrants who will be sheltered in Albania according to the agreement with Italy, go to the municipality headed by him.

Mayor Albert Malaj, in a letter addressed to Prime Minister Rama, requests that a part of the immigrants be accommodated in Memaliaj. He says he has the right experience and capacities.

"Based on my professional experience as a former soldier, qualified for the management of refugee crises in assigned missions outside Albania, I am prepared and ready to ensure the good management and smooth running of the process of housing foreign immigrants and in the Municipality of Memaliaj ", Malay says in his letter.

Wishing you good work!

I am addressing you through this letter in the capacity of the Mayor of Memaliaj, on behalf of the entire community of the municipality to express our support as a humanitarian response to the current situation involving immigrants who have found refuge in Europe.

Based on the agreement concluded between the Prime Minister of Albania and the Prime Minister of Italy, in which it was agreed to bring African immigrants and asylum seekers from Italy to camps located in Albania, it is the moment to show our hospitality based on the experience and hospitality that we have for many years as immigrants we have found it in European countries.

The Municipality of Memaliaj expresses its readiness to accommodate a part of the emigrants starting from the experience gained in 1998 by accommodating and showing the tradition of hospitality to our brothers of Kosovo, based on the agreement of the community which is ready to contribute positive in the lives of immigrants, the possession of suitable spaces and accommodation facilities, as well as the favorable positioning of the territory of the municipality in the vicinity of the port of Vlora and Saranda. Based also on my professional experience as a former soldier, qualified for the management of refugee crises in assigned missions outside Albania, I am prepared and ready to ensure the good management and smooth running of the process of housing foreign immigrants in the Municipality of Memaliaj.

Thanking you for considering this proposal, we ask for the opportunity to engage in a constructive dialogue with the relevant authorities on the details and logistics of housing immigrants in the Municipality of Memaliaj.
