New York's new mayor with the Albanian eagle

Zohran Mamdan, the new mayor of New York City, appears with an eagle. These are the photos that are going viral on the internet, taken by the young man of Albanian origin, Erzen Gashi.

"He has Albanian friends, he saw them doing the eagle, and the boy in the photo with him said, 'Are we doing the eagle for a photo?' And he let it go himself," said photographer Erzen Gashi.

The 37-year-old, born in Slovenia, raised in the USA, but with a father from Kosovo and a mother from Montenegro, tells Top Channel about Mamdan's meeting during the electoral campaign with the Albanian community in New York.

"The photos of Mandam that I took were thanks to a friend Dritan Fida who called me for an event with Albanians and knows that there are many Albanians here, he wanted to know more. He looks real like in the video and photos, he is a good and sweet person... you can easily talk to him, make friends with him," said Gashi.

The victory of the young Muslim Zohran Mamdan of African-Indian descent was considered historic, and Erzeni reveals how his result was expected.

"I spoke to him a little. I told him that I am a Muslim, that I am an immigrant. It seems to me that Albanians are for him, they trust him. It has been a long time since there has been such a good atmosphere, and I have lived here for 30 years and have seen this city go downhill with expensiveness, difficulties... now immigrants are afraid all over America and we trust that he will protect us," he said.

The photo with the eagle hopes to be multiplied, because Erzeni has a passion for photography but has studied in the health sector and works in a hospital; he believes it will lead to a job offer from the new mayor of New York.

"I sent you the photos I took that day and told you that if you need them again, I would be happy to do so because I love photos and videos more than the work I do," he concluded./TCH
