The head of AKEP to the Disinformation commission: 155 Russian domains were

In the Information Commission, the Chairman of the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP), Tomi Frashëri, gave explanations on cyber attacks.

Frashëri spoke about the continuous attacks of "Homeland Justice", those of Russian sites after the conflict and war in Ukraine, as well as the level of security for Albanian operators and citizens in electronic services.

He said that about 155 Russian domains and another 8 belonging to data hacking groups have been closed.

" The request for the first Russian domains has been global, since March 3, 2022, directly from the European Commission (EU). Who requested that in addition to the 3 specified websites, whose names I am not mentioning, as well as other Russian domains that took a stand and published data in favor of Russian aggression, should be closed, because they contained disinformation.

Other requests have come from law enforcement bodies for the "Homeland Justice" group (Iranians). Requests have mainly come from the Prosecutor's Office in some cases, the Cyber Unit C of the Police. The only instrument to stop these is the law. "

He explained, among other things, that the attacks also occurred due to the negligence of operators and untrained personnel, as they are not attentive to system scanning and monitoring, mainly during holidays and summer months, where additional service is required, because these viruses or Maluare enter the system, stay there as dormant and are activated later.

" Their goal is to crash the system, take it out of service, destroy the data. That's why you shouldn't open every message that comes to your phone or e-mail ," warned Frashëri.

He reminded the deputies of the Commission, but also the Parliament, that they too have received such messages in the form of blackmail (SKY ECC case).

" The attack that happened in December was very well calibrated. Now we are in the logic of destruction, we are not like before, when most of the attacks were done to make money out of this thing. You may even have received such e-mails, as I have seen somewhere on certain sites and if there is no more money, it will take them all out (the SKY ECC issue).

But now they are more problematic, because they are for collapse, they are for destruction. But all are attacked, without exception, one resists more, copes better than the other. This operator who was attacked, the way this one was attacked, no one has been attacked before. Whereas ISPs are easy to find, they are given by law, they are in public registers, even in AKEP, he said.
