The European Union Ambassador to Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, held a meeting with the Chief Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi, to receive information on the development of the electoral process on the eve of the parliamentary elections of May 11.

After the meeting, Ambassador Gonzato spoke to the media, emphasizing that the European Union has not intervened and will not intervene in the electoral process.

“The European Union neither interferes nor manipulates. The news that we have interfered with the ODIHR report is completely untrue. ODIHR is an independent organization and acts independently; we cannot interfere with their reports. We trust ODIHR, which is responsible for monitoring the process,” he said.

Gonzato emphasized that the EU's role is to assist Albania in the integration process, explaining that "we are here to help Albania, not to manipulate anything."

He also praised the work of SPAK, emphasizing that the fight against organized crime is an important part of Albania's integration process into the European Union.
