The Health Investigator/ Beqaj reacts from the cell: DP MPs mocked and insulted
Ilir Beqaj

The two-day tensions at the Investigative Commission for Health, Sterilization and Check Up concessions have not only brought verbal clashes and accusations between the political parties, but also a reaction from the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, who was unable to testify , as the opposition and the majority did not agree on the procedure.

Arrested for the SASPAC funds and under process for the sterilization concession, Beqaj reacted today (November 14), about what happened during the 16 hours of yesterday in waiting and until 02:20 in the morning.

The reaction was made through his lawyer. He says he faced insults and ridicule for two days in a row and yesterday for 14 hours without interruption while waiting to testify.

Beqaj declares that he faced insults and ridicule from various democratic deputies, mentioning them by name, as he adds that he could not allow his dignity to be violated. Beqaj denies that he threatened any of the opposition MPs.

Ilir Beqaj's full reaction from the cell:

" Since March 2024, when the establishment of the parliamentary investigation commission for concessions in health was approved, I have been faced with accusations, insults as a thief, a criminal, etc. I waited in silence for the day of the hearing in the Commission. On Tuesday I appeared at 10 am and until 7.30 pm I was prevented from testifying. My lawyer is also prevented from speaking.

On Wednesday I showed up at 10:30 a.m. according to the notice and I waited until 01:40 a.m. on Thursday. Even in the meetings of these two days that are public, with voice and face, I have faced accusations, mockery and insults from Vokshi, Zhupa, Koreshi and Hoti.

At that hour of the night, standing near the meeting room waiting to testify and following the work of the commission, I heard deputy Zhupa that if I were the object she was asking that since midnight on November 13 had passed, I should return to the cell after according to her, this was the permission given by the Directorate of Prisons.

According to the Code of Criminal Procedure, even for a detainee in case of interrogation or judicial process, the stay does not depend on the time of the permit, but the duration of the relevant session. I entered the meeting room just one step from the door and I openly expressed my revolt for the mockery to the point of torture that had been going on for more than 14 hours. I did not threaten or insult anyone.

Indignantly, I told deputy Zhupa that I have been waiting there since 10:30. Even if I am detained, I do not accept to be insulted and taken under foot. I reject this, oppose it and will continue to oppose it. In 8 months of investigations by the commission, all the witnesses have proven that the two concessions under investigation are success stories. I don't allow the political failure of the opposition MPs to interfere with my dignity".
