Yesterday in the premises of the Special Court, the next session was held regarding the Gërdec tragedy, where former minister Fatmir Mediu also testified.
To talk about this issue, Mediu was invited today to the show Breaking with Fiori Dardha on Top News.
He was asked by the moderator about the somewhat funny side of the process, where according to SPAK, in 2008 he violated a law that came into force in 2009.
" It is not an issue for SPAK, because SPAK has received the prosecutor's file of that time. The prosecutor's office at the time, when I resigned, for various interests (because we were before elections) tried to divert the investigation, promoting the idea that the military were not questioned, which is the most absurd thing. Because every letter that came to the minister, every note was addressed to higher civil and military authorities.
This issue shows the lack of depth because the Stabilization and Association Agreement enters into force in 2009. They think that when a law is approved it automatically enters into force. International agreements have their own deadlines, because they come into force when the last country approves it, and the last country to approve this agreement is Greece.
There are also some other things, one is for example that the company did not have an environmental permit, did not have a certificate of conformity, or that it was not registered in taxes. But what does the ministry have to do with this? Or that the minister has not chosen the company, the minister never chooses the company, VKM has defined the procedure for choosing the company", said Mediu.
