A few hours after being released from prison, the MEP of the ruling Greek party New Democracy declared that there had been offers to resign from the mandate of the Mayor of Himara.

Fredi Beleri said that officials of our main partners had met the son and brother during the first week of his arrest suggesting to them the resignation of Beleri and finding another candidate, even a member of the Beleri family.

But who are these partners? In the interview with the journalist Elona Meço, on the show "Pa Censure", Fredi Beleri spoke openly.

Elona Meço: You claimed after leaving prison that you had offers from officials of our main partners to resign in exchange for freedom. Who made you this offer?

Fredi Beleri: Who are our main partners?

Elona Meço: I know that we have Americans. Was it them?

Fredi Beleri: Even from them.

Elona Meço: "Even from them", who else was there?

Fredi Beleri: Yes, Albania has other partners, mediators, benefactors. But this too was another trick. Because the offer was to put a good boy, without problems, to have the opportunity to win the municipality, to punish the people with votes for the government's mistakes. Mr. Gjikuris came, who for me is a model citizen, and the attack that was done to him was 10 times greater than the attack that was done to me in 2023 before the elections.

One of the attacks that Beller mentioned against the opposition candidate was his meetings with the former head of the CIA, Robert Gates. "Why is Mr. Gates good when he meets the Albanian Prime Minister and when he meets Mr. Gjikuria is it a problem?", said Fredi Beleri criticizing "the double standards used in the electoral campaign against the opposition".
