Edi Rama and Kiriakos Mitsotakis, at least officially, did not have a face-to-face meeting during the summit of the leaders of the European Union and those of the Western Balkans in Brussels. However, they could not avoid each other in the halls of the European Council building.

As can be seen in this video, it is the Greek Prime Minister who takes the first step. He approaches Rama and with his index finger speaks to her in English.

According to the Greek media, this was the moment when Mitsotakis made it clear to Rama that without Beleri being sworn in, Athens has no intention of lifting the veto for the opening of the first chapter of membership negotiations.

In this part, the Greek media is indirectly confirmed by the reaction of Edi Rama, who shrugs his shoulders in front of his Greek counterpart. Meanwhile, Vox News sources from the Prime Minister's Office claim that during the entire conversation with Mitsotakis, Edi Rama has reiterated Albania's official position that the Beleri case is a matter of justice.

The short but tense conversation between the two prime ministers was held during the exit of the leaders of the European Union and those of the Western Balkans for the family photo. At the moment when the leaders were positioning themselves for the official shooting of the camera and the EU anthem was playing in the background, Edi Rama took the role of conductor in front of them.

As can be seen from these images, the gesture adjusted the mood of EU leaders, including Macron, but will it be enough to overcome the Greek veto and open the negotiation chapters?
