FACSIMILE: It is hinted that Zoto, Damian Gjiknuri paid travel and accommodation
Damian Gjiknuri

The file submitted to the Assembly by SPAK through which it requests the authorization to arrest the former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj contained some data where it was suspected that the businessman Klodian Zoto had paid hotels in two episodes on behalf of the former Minister of Industry and Energy Damian Gjiknuri in Vienna and Frankfurt.

"In the email of citizen Klodian Zoto on March 12, 2014, it appears that he was sent an email from booking.com about his reservation at the Radisson blu sky hotel Vienna, where the reservation is confirmed with the number... at the address.... with guest name Damian Gjiknuri with the period 12.3.2014 to 13.3.2014," the prosecution file states.

But how does this fact stand in reality beyond what was found in Zoto's e-mail? The TemA newspaper has the receipts for the reservation and payment of the hotel where Gjiknuri stayed on March 12. Specifically, it turns out that Gjiknuri did NOT sleep at the Radisson Blu Sky Hotel Vienna as claimed by Zoto's e-mail review.

Official documents show that on March 12, 2014, Gjiknuri slept at the Ambassador Hotel with reservation number TL 34979619, Standard Sigle Room with the name Mr. Damian Gjiknuri. The reservation and payment of the hotel is confirmed to have been made by the Ministry of Energy and Industry, whose owner was Gjiknuri at that time.

According to the order of the service, it turns out that Gjiknuri was on a working visit to Vienna as part of the talks that the Albanian government was conducting with the Czech company CEZ for the re-nationalization of the electricity distribution company. Gjiknuri was accompanied on this trip by his adviser Entela Çipa, part of the negotiating group for the ÇEZ issue, just as Minister Ahmetaj was also part of the negotiating group from the side of the Albanian government. The negotiations took place in Vienna under the auspices of the European Energy Community.

The second case cited in the SPAK file is that of an alleged sleepover in Frankfurt, Germany on February 8, 2014. "There is a suspicion that citizens Arben Ahmetaj and Damian Gjiknuri met and stayed together on February 8, 2014 in Frankfurt with citizens Mirel Mërtiri and Klodian Zoto," the prosecution document states.

The TemA newspaper also has the service order abroad for the second case cited in the prosecution file that coincides with the transit trip from Frankfurt, February 2014. According to the service order, it appears that Damian Gjiknuri, Minister of Energy and Industry, conducted a service in Boston, United States of America, where he would participate in the Scientific Session to be held at Harvard University. The departure for this service is on February 8, 2014 and the return on February 17, 2014.

TemA also has the reservation from the Ministry of Energy and Industry of the travel ticket with the itinerary: Departure from Tirana on February 8, 05:50 and arrival in Rome at 07:15; Departure from Rome on February 8, 18:40 and arrival in Frankfurt at 20:45; Departs Frankfurt on February 9 at 11:20 and arrives in Boston at 1:30.

The service order clearly states that "the Ministry of Energy and Industry undertakes the payment to cover all travel expenses, accommodation, diets, health insurance".
