Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Tirana on Sunday evening as part of Albania-US diplomatic relations. In his speech, Pompeo said the commitment continues the same and wishes the friendship to have another 100 years.

During the visit, he was honored by the University of Tirana with the title Honoris Causa for his contribution to maintaining peace, building dialogue, ensuring security and deepening diplomatic relations between America and our country.

Gazeta Shqiptarja writes that Mike Pompeo's staff confirms that there was an attempt by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha to establish a meeting with Mr. Pompeo during his stay in Tirana, and even spontaneously in the corridors of the Mak-Albania hotel (former Sheraton). .

According to the Albanian, the security teams were informed about this fact and got acquainted with Berisha's photo to prevent the presence of this person in the premises where Mr. Pompeo would be located.
