Prime Minister Edi Rama seems to have launched a revenge campaign against the Rai3 "Report" show, which, while dealing with the agreement between Italy and Albania, raised suspicions of corruption towards the Albanian government.
In an interview for the Italian newspaper " Il Giornale ", Rama points out that the Rai3 "Report" show threw mud at Albania to attack Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni.
"Excuse me, but since when do criminal lawyers live defending angels and saints? Designating a lawyer, a key figure in the rule of law, as a confidant of criminals, well, it smacks of communism, because it makes me think of the bloodthirsty dictatorship of Enver Hoxha, who buried the figure of the lawyer as lepers were buried in the Middle Ages", says Rama during the interview regarding the accusations against the general secretary of the Council of Ministers, Úngjëll Agaçi.
Did you expect this from Italian television?
Rama: "To be honest, no, because I remain very attached to Rai, to whom I owe a lot. It was the only window to the world in the first quarter century of my life. And it can't help but hurt me to see Albania attacked in that disgusting way by Rai, as if a black page had been reopened in the history of the Italian press, when the word Albanian was used as a synonym for criminal, trafficker. the thief, the prostitute and Albania itself was treated as a source of evil".
Do you think that Report's attack is influenced by the old Italian prejudice against Albanians?
Rama: "No, I don't believe that. I believe that the hatred towards your prime minister made the authors of that broadcast insensitive to the truth," declares Rama.
Do you think that the Report program with this investigation has damaged the image of your country?
Rama: "This is little, but certain. I believe that it has also caused damage to the public service of your country, by deceiving TV viewers, who, if I'm not mistaken, pay taxes to be correctly informed by that service."
