The resignation of Lindita Nikolla as Speaker of the Assembly, due to health reasons, was a surprise for the colleagues of the parliamentary group of socialists, and of no small importance within the SP.

Undoubtedly, a decision consulted days ago with Edi Rama before he traveled to Paris for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.

In the corridors of the SP, there is no shortage of comments and conjectures about who will be in charge of the Assembly of Albania.

The journalist of Top Channel, Muhamed Veliu, talked informally with some of the members of the leadership of the SP, who as a possible candidate in the pole position for the moment put Elisa Spiropali, currently the Minister for Relations with the Parliament, in this position.

However, this remains up to Edi Rama to decide.

The possibility of Rama's proposal for the empty number one seat of the Assembly during the SP congress on Sunday is not excluded.

During the last three years, in the absence of Edi Rama in the parliament, Elisa Spiropali has led the debate and the strong retorts with the opposition, especially during the first three months of 2024, when the parliament was gripped by the opposition's noise, flares and Molotov cocktails.

On the other hand, the candidacy of Elisa Spiropali is in strong positions in relation to the internal performance of political leaders in the districts, a constant concern of Edi Rama.

As a political leader in Shkodër, she coordinated the electoral campaign of the last local elections in this city, winning the SP with the candidacy of Benet Beci.

In informal conversations between colleagues, Elisa Spiropali has not hidden her ambition to advance her political career in the direction of Albanian diplomacy or defense thanks to an advanced network she has developed with and in relations with internationals.

Top Channel has learned that only three of those who are considered "old" in the SP will speak at this congress.

Among them, Blendi Klosi, Fatmir Xhafaj and Elisa Spiropali.

Precisely, the inclusion of Elisa Spiropali in this trio of speakers at the congress is commented within the SP as not accidental.

The young people of the Political Academy of the SP will have the biggest space.
