Former Democratic MP Ervin Salianji spoke on "This Week" about the race for Tirana Mayor. Florjan Binaj, an independent candidate supported by the opposition, is running against the Socialist, Ogerta Manastirliu.

The former DP MP said that Binaj is receiving massive support in the capital and he saw this from the meetings he himself held with citizens, supporting the independent candidate.

Salianji said that due to Binaj's popularity, Rama was forced to postpone the elections in the Municipality of Tirana, to gain time, according to him, to find the mechanisms for this electoral confrontation.

"For me, he has gained an advantage at the start, so much so that he has been forced to postpone the elections. So, Edi Rama has postponed the elections to give him time to use all his mechanisms. Florian Binaj has energized the gray area in Tirana," said Salianji.

He also outlined the expectations of the independent candidate, adding that the data shows him as the winner over Manastirliu.

"The SP in Tirana is 48.2%. All the data is that Florjan Binaj will be the new mayor of Tirana due to the massive support. Even those who do not like Mr. Berisha, by voting for Binaj, give him the opportunity to show both the DP and society that there must be changes and profiles of this type. It is a golden opportunity for the citizens of Tirana to show the entire society that a candidate who is not subject to the orders of political parties but comes as a need of society, but also as a fact of great commitment to public causes, should be voted for and shown to the parties that this is the right path and enough of you have tired us", Salianji continued.

Ervin Salianji added that he will be in the Tirana campaign in support of the independent candidate, engaging in Unit 6, the Kombinat area which is known as a bastion of the left.

"I am and will be in the Tirana elections, to support the independent candidate Florjan Binaj, an excellent candidate supported by the opposition. I see a massive support that I see in the people. There is an impatience of the people and their main question is: When will Rama leave ?", said Salianji.

"I will be campaigning in the Kombinat area, in Unit 6. I have started the meetings, I will be in support of him in a certain area according to the organization that the DP has made, in support of the independent candidate ," concluded Salianji.
