"We will root out corruption", DASH spokesperson warns: Other names

The US State Department has warned other non-grata declarations as well as sanctions for high officials of the Western Balkans. Sanctions will include former officials or senior officials involved in corruption.

DASH's own spokesperson, Ned Price, stated a day ago that the non-grata announcements would follow the "non-grata" announcement of the state prosecutor in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

QUESTION: You just announced today, before this meeting, before this conference, that the United States declares non grata Diana Kajmakovic, state prosecutor in Bosnia and Herzegovina. What can you tell us about this case and can we expect more sanctions in other countries of the Western Balkans?

NED PRICE:  So one of our goals when it comes to the Western Balkans is to work with the governments and work with the people of the region to target, remove and root out corruption.

And sanctions are an important tool to do this.

We declared her non grata and the Treasury announced sanctions this morning against a state attorney general who was involved in acts of corruption.

We have provided information in that statement. Treasury may have additional information about the basis for that determination.

And sanctions will remain an important tool, not the only one, but an important tool – when it comes to the region and when it comes to our goal, the goal that we share with governments and people in the region, of rooting out corruption .
