The plenary session in the Albanian Parliament today was not only full of strong debates, but also accusations, harsh retorts, irony and jokes that even went as far as personal attacks.

The opposition accused the majority and the government of corruption scandals involving even the highest levels of the executive branch, while Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku was named as a defendant.

The Socialists, on the other hand, have accused the opposition of not only slandering, but also seeking to disrupt the session in the Assembly.

Democratic MP Bledion Nallbani has not spared Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi, also an MP for the Korça district where they both serve, labeling him a "scoundrel and a thief."

Peleshi was not present in the hall, as Deputy Speaker Klodiana Spahiu drew his attention to the offensive language used towards the Speaker of the Assembly.

Referring to the words of his majority colleagues and Pelesh himself earlier, he said:

"This is not right, we are in parliament, not in preschool. A colleague from the majority took the floor and told us it is a shame for MPs to talk about issues on the agenda. I tell you that it is not a shame to talk about the problems of citizens, but it is a shame to raise the card to steal citizens' money. We were voted to raise citizens' concerns."

He also accused Pelesh of being a fraud and a thief.

"It is shameful to protect thieves and those who steal citizens' money and not to raise citizens' concerns. This is not shameful to talk about citizens, it is shameful to raise the card for theft. And one last thing, since the Speaker of the Parliament gave me a piece of advice to go in front of the mirror, I went out Niko, I did not see any handsome guy. But I am telling you that I did not see a thief, a swindler and a fraud like you," he said.

Nallbati emphasized that in the Assembly it is important to talk about the problems of citizens, since that is what they voted for.

Deputy Mayor Spahiu warned him and drew his attention:

"Mr. Nallbati, it is not normal to speak here with this vocabulary and insult the Speaker of the Parliament. I will not allow you! What is this language now?! What is all this anger in Parliament, man, how can you speak like this about the Speaker of the Parliament? I draw your attention to the vocabulary you used."

The replies started from previous debates, where Nallbati, in his speech, accused the majority MPs of the Korça district of neglecting the residents and northeastern areas, including the Speaker of Parliament Peleshi.
