Opposition leader Sali Berisha is in Kavaja this Thursday, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Party branch there.
During his speech, before the citizens of Kavaja, Berisha said that he had an ultimatum for Prime Minister Edi Rama, whom he considered the "worst enemy" of Albanians.
He called on Prime Minister Edi Rama not to obstruct justice by referring to the investigations of the Special Prosecution Office SPAK against several senior officials in corruption cases, and to resign.
"Albanians have never been robbed by the government as they have been robbed these ten years and now they have decided to block justice. I have chosen Kavaja, to give him an ultimatum. Do not dare to protect the government thieves with stolen votes, because we who rose up in the '90s with a sacred motive to defend freedom, are still standing, we are still ready, with the motive 'Let us die, let us live for freedom'. Therefore, from Kavaja, I call on you: Do not obstruct justice, leave power, because you have behaved towards the Albanians as the most savage enemy in their entire history. No occupation, no dictatorship, no regime, has driven out in just ten years, 1 million and 100 thousand Albanians, only in the Schengen area." , said Berisha, calling on citizens to rise up in protests.
"Rama remains in power, not because he is brave, not because he has support, but he remains in power because we do not stand up ," he added.
He added that it was the sacrifice of the citizens of Kavaja that laid the foundations of pluralism in the country.
"We gather today on the 35th anniversary of the founding of the DP branch in Kavaja. In fact, the DP branch in Kavaja was formally founded on December 17, 1990, late at night, the 18th dawning. But the truth is that it was Kavaja, it was the sacrifice, the manliness and bravery of the citizens of Kavaja that laid the foundations of pluralism."
"Dear friends, the anti-communist movement in Kavajë was the most powerful anti-communist movement in Albania. After the anti-communist stances and demonstrations of January, came the powerful peaceful uprising of March in Kavajë, in which the first hero of Albanian democracy, Josif Buda , fell for him, to remain immortal," Berisha said during his speech.
He continued to accuse Prime Minister Rama and the Socialist majority of electoral farce, referring to the May 11 parliamentary elections.
