SPAK has a big problem with the different standards it applies and the lack of priorities, said the publisher of the TemA newspaper, Mero Baze, in an interview for Top News with journalist Milaim Zeka.
He sharply criticized the lack of priorities in dealing with the most serious cases that have occurred in Albania over the last 30 years and the lowering of sentencing standards, often balancing cases without a clear logic.
Baze illustrated this problem with several concrete cases:
• Indictment of the former mayor of Shkodra, Bardh Spahia, for the dismissal of a water supply director.
• The punishment of the mayor of Fushë-Arrëz, for having built a road with contributions from the residents themselves, but having been given an excavator by the Municipality, while SPAK, even after 14 years, has still not questioned Sali Berisha about the January 21 murders.
Mero Baze for Ilir Meta and Sali Berisha
Baze spoke out against the arrest of Ilir Meta without taking the case to court, emphasizing that such a move raises suspicions of a politically motivated handling of the case.
As for Sali Berisha, he suspects that the way SPAK is putting him in and out of arrest is a game to give him the image of a triumphant against justice.
He also spoke about whistleblower Nesti Angoni, raising questions about those behind him and demanding more transparency on the case.
When asked about the impact that Berisha's recruitment of strategist LaCivita could have on this campaign, Baze said: "My dear, you like these sexual jokes. An 80-year-old like Berisha, no matter how much Viagra he takes, remains 80 years old..."
Appeal for SPAK: Priorities and unification of standards
Baze emphasized that if SPAK does not unify investigation standards and does not set priorities, then it will not succeed in establishing justice in Albania and will become the subject of political debate.
