During his stay in The Hague, Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla held a meeting with the President of EUROJUST Ladislav Hamran, with whom he discussed issues of cooperation within the framework of the fight against crime, drug trafficking and especially the capture of persons wanted by Albanian justice. 

Minister Balla declared that the time of impunity will end, regardless of where the persons wanted by the Albanian justice act or hide.

At the meeting, the level of cooperation within the joint investigation teams was evaluated, a work that has marked the best results among non-EU countries.

In a post on social networks, Minister Balla emphasizes that "Albania has the best results among non-member countries of the European Union, but also in comparison with EU countries during 2023, referring to the new joint investigation teams. We had 6 teams during 2023 and 12 more during 2024 and we are in the process of signing a JIT with Ecuador where Italy is the leading country".

The Minister further said that the State Police has been a participant of all joint investigative teams with this EU institution.

"The time of impunity will end, regardless of where the persons wanted by the Albanian justice act or hide. Most of the joint investigation teams are investigating drug trafficking, cybercrime, human trafficking and terrorism. The State Police is also part of all investigative teams", Minister Balla underlined.

EUROJUST is the EU's law enforcement agency for cooperation in the fight against serious cross-border crimes.
