The Secretary General of the Freedom Party, Tedi Blushi , and the lawyer of former President Meta, Kujtim Cakrani , stated in a press conference that the arrest of the President of the Freedom Party shows the decline of the rule of law, while accusing the State Police of being a criminal organization.

In his speech, Blushi called for the process against Ilir Meta to be returned to the legal track as soon as possible, while emphasizing that the arrest of the PL president was made on a political order given by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Blushi further announced that he, lawyer Kujtim Cakrani, and the family of the PL President have been prohibited from meeting and communicating with Ilir Meta.

"While he is held in extreme isolation, Rama, with a mountain of criminal evidence on his back and executive powers in his hands, is left free to continue his thefts, as in the case of the incinerators, and to intimidate prosecutors and judges by threatening them not to approach his cell phone."

The court in Mr. Meta's case should have argued about what witnesses it is talking about. There is no witness from the PL who incriminates Ilir Meta.

All are manipulations to implement Rama's public political message that he wanted Meta in extreme isolation before the elections, using SPAK as a tool.

On behalf of the PL, we demand the return as soon as possible to the tracks of legality of the process that has been on the path paved by the political order of Edi Rama.

"I have been sentenced not to meet or communicate with the PL president, just as other PL MPs, family members of Mr. Meta and his lawyer have been sentenced ," Blushi said.

For his part, lawyer Cakrani has raised the alarm over the Ombudsman's report, which, according to him, confirms the decline of the rule of law, since, as he points out, the report highlights the violation committed by the State Police in the process of arresting Ilir Meta.

"In the 25-page report of the Ombudsman, the response that the police director gave to the questions addressed to him deceived the Ombudsman and public opinion.

The report states: "At the moment the state police were asked to execute the decision, the police mobilized criminal police forces like never before. The Ombudsman's report will go to all international institutions ," the lawyer said.
