The American Embassy in Tirana has reacted to the violence and riots that happened yesterday in the Assembly .
In an announcement, the Embassy expresses concern about the situation and emphasizes that such harmful acts have no place in the democratic process.

The US Embassy is deeply concerned about the destruction and force unleashed on the Albanian parliament on Monday.
Such damaging and potentially hurtful acts have no place in the democratic process.
We encourage all parties involved to exercise restraint, engage in constructive dialogue and embrace the values of respect and citizenship.
We support the peaceful and cooperative discussions related to the negotiations for Albania's membership in the EU, and we will continue to stand by the Albanian institutions as they work to bring Albania closer to the Euro-Atlantic community.
