This is the sound of the Earth's magnetic field. Even as it was 41 thousand years ago, during the Ice Age, when the magnetic field suffered a reduction of 5% of the current intensity. Under those conditions, a large amount of cosmic rays, was more free to reach our planet, without encountering obstacles.
An erratic noise in the background, reminiscent of wind, is the noise of the Earth in space.
The recording of this phenomenon was realized thanks to the work of the 3 "Swarm" satellites of the European Space Agency, and in addition to the sounds, the researchers also reconstructed the map of the movements of the magnetic field during that event.
These satellites are designed to understand how gravity is generated, and measure the magnetic signals of the core, mantle, crust and oceans, as well as the ionosphere and magnetosphere.
