Albanian Folk Tradition "Wearing Allafrënga" in Tirana/ A unique

In an artistic collaboration that unites generations, emotions and tradition, on May 26, 2025, at 7:00 PM, the COD Library near the Prime Minister's Office in Tirana will welcome one of the most significant events of this jubilee edition of the International Albanian Brass Festival: the concert "14 Albanian Popular Songs", with author and conductor Maestro Edmond Doko.

This special activity comes as inspiration from the latest musical publication of the same title, a rich collection of scores for brass quintet, which brings back 14 selected Albanian folk songs, masterfully crafted in a contemporary format.

Edmond Doko, the renowned conductor with a rich international career, has given these pearls of tradition a new life, without compromising their authenticity, by bringing them through the language of cultivated classical music.

The Albanian Brass Quintet (one of the most prominent brass ensembles in the region), the Plus Octet from Kosovo, Elona Sadiku (mezzo-soprano) and Liridon Sadriu (tenor), will combine the power of voice and sound with the spirit of Albanian folk music.

After the success of this concert in Pristina, within the framework of the 17th anniversary of Kosovo's Independence, the work comes to Tirana to share with the Albanian public an artistic moment where the national spiritual heritage meets the elegance of instrumental interpretation.

The program includes well-known songs such as "Kur më vjen burri nga stani", "Margjelo", "Lule bore", "Dëbora bëshchi malet", "M'ka shku menja me u fejue" and others, which are preserved as treasures of Albanian civic music. Their interpretation with the brass instrument quintet is a modern form that preserves the essence, but brings innovation and freshness to the artistic experience.

This concert and the accompanying publication are supported by the Kosovo Opera, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of the Republic of Kosovo, as well as the Dituria Publishing House, who have helped in the realization of a rare material, which enriches not only the musical fund, but also the artistic education of the younger generations.
