"You are my dad", Arbër Hajdari tells the shocking story of
Arbër Hajdari and the late Elsa

The founder of "Fundjavë Ndryshe", Arbër Hajdari, has told "E Diela Ndryshe" a shocking story that has marked his life.

He told the story of Elsa, a little girl who is no longer alive and still touches him.

Arbër Hajdari: It is the story of a little girl who is no longer alive. It is a story that moved all Albanians to tears with the difficulties that Elsa went through with her family, orphans, only with her mother and brother, in conditions of very high bullying.

Ardit Gjebrea: Really?

Arber Hajdari: Yes.

Ardit Gjebrea : Why?

Arbër Hajdari: Because of poverty.

"What evil have we done to God that we have received such a terrible punishment? I don't want to be here anymore. I want to leave," Elsa is heard saying in a video.

Arbër Hajdari: An extraordinary child, smart, he was learning and at that time, when we found them, we made it possible to provide them with a new home, not in Delvina where they lived...

Ardit Gjebrea: Ah, why was he from Delvina?

Arbër Hajdari: He was from Delvina.

Ardit Gjebrea: Where my mother was born.

Arbër Hajdari : We found them in very difficult days. Later, in a very short time, while we were working on the new house, we managed to get them to go to the beach for the first time. Imagine what poverty does, living in Delvinë…

Ardit Gjebrea: As close as Saranda is, they had never been to the beach?

Arbër Hajdari: They had never been to sea.

Ardit Gjebrea: No clock!

Arbër Hajdari: Yes. While we were working on the house, we went on vacation for a week, me, the two children, a colleague of mine, and the children's mother. Then we donated the house to them in Fier because they had some relatives in the city of Fier.

Ardit Gjebrea: Ah, they were moved from Delvina to Fier.

Arbër Hajdari: They moved there. They started school, which they missed a lot, they didn't go because of the bullying that was being done to both children, and in the period of two years, Elsa and I had created a family relationship because Elsa didn't miss any of our celebrations, she didn't miss my birthday either, and almost, almost once a month we met each other. I, the staff of "Fundjavës", as much as Elsa at the inauguration of her house, had written me a letter and when I handed over the key to the house to her mother, she told me that I had written her a letter. She was very young, she was 6 years old to have that kind of intelligence.

Ardit Gjebrea: Really?

Arbër Hajdari: He writes me a letter thanking me for the house and for being close to it, and he addresses me by saying you are my father.

"We have you as a father and we love you and thank you very much. You will always remain in our hearts," the letter reads. But fate proved unfair to Elsa. Just when things were just starting to take a better turn, a sudden and aggressive illness would take her life.

Arbër Hajdari: I was very spiritually connected to her and at that time I had not yet become a father and I treated Elsa as if she were my daughter. Later, during the pandemic, I received a call from Elsa's mother and she told me that Elsa was in the hospital in Tirana, in serious condition.

Ardit Gjebrea: What was it?

Arbër Hajdari: She had a very bad illness where doctors were forced to do some quick tests abroad due to the specificity of the disease and it was an already aggravated illness. I found myself in the hospital as soon as I received information from her mother, let's not forget that at that time Tirana was almost isolated due to the pandemic, the isolation from the pandemic had just begun because no one knew what this type of disease was. Elsa fought for her life for almost seven days.

Ardit Gjebrea: So fast?

Arbër Hajdari: So quickly. After seven days, Elsa passed away, despite all the ways the doctors tried to save her.
