The Camino de las Yungas, better known today as the "Road of Death", is one of the most dangerous public roads in the world and currently a major tourist destination in La Paz, Bolivia.
The 64-kilometer road was once the only road connecting the cities of La Paz and Coroico in the Yunga region.
Between 200 and 300 people lost their lives on this road every year, so in 1995 it was declared the most dangerous in the world.

Because of this name, it gained immense popularity around the world. Meanwhile, a new road has been built on the second track and the old one has been used for tourist purposes in recent years.
Today it is mostly visited by cyclists and adrenaline enthusiasts, where every year about 25 thousand tourists pass.

Local tourist guide Diego Del Carpio points out that before arriving on the road, they first visit the Apacheta shrine.
"Once we get the permit, we ride our bikes on the road. "We see a 180-degree landscape and witness the formation of glaciers due to geological processes and changing weather," explains Del Carpio.

The descent down the road takes several hours, starting at an altitude of 4,670 meters and ending at 1,100 meters in Yolosa.
It is almost three meters wide, without a fence and nothing that would give any car safety.
The most serious accident there occurred in July 1983, when a bus landed in an abyss killing 100 people.
