In the US, 3 in 4 teenagers chat with virtual friends, through Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The "alarm" comes from the NGO Common Sense Media, a few days after the launch of Grok, which is Elon Musk's AI, with a function to create virtual friends and companions. These programs are designed to carry out conversations, give advice, have friendly or even romantic interactions, which goes beyond human characteristics.
The company that released the data considers the relationship-oriented Artificial Intelligence assistant to be an unacceptable risk, especially to minors.
In fact, referring to statistics, they speak of 72% of teenagers aged 13-17 who have used AI at least once, and more than 50% of them communicate with artificial friends every day, which could affect fundamental changes in communication, psychology, and human society.
During the survey, 25% of minors claimed to share personal secrets with AI, and the only positive data is that despite its massive use, 80% of them prefer to spend time with real friends.
