Pizza: high-priced or affordable food for people? This is the question that has been asked for several days between the Italian billionaire Flavio Briatore and the chefs in Naples, where the production of pizza has the status of a UNESCO world heritage.

A staple for Italians and a worldwide favorite, pizza is traditionally made from simple ingredients, with restaurants in the southern city of Naples serving classic Margherita pizza for just 4 euros.

Briatore challenged these low prices by selling pizza with ingredients like truffles for 65 euros. This award has created debate in both Italy and London where the billionaire is selling them in his restaurants.

"Pizza with 4 euros, what do these people decide?" Briatore wrote on Instagram, rejecting the Neapolitan Margheritan, calling it cheap because there is only dough and tomatoes.

Chef Sergio Miccu, president of the Neapolitan Association of Pizza Makers, responded by accusing Briatore of betraying the modest pizza heritage.

"Pizza has nourished generations, overcoming war and cholera," he said in a statement.

In response to Briatore's comments, one of Italy's most famous pizza chefs, Gino Sorbillo, served free pizza in front of his restaurant in central Naples.

"Briatore says cheap pizza is not good? "A pizza is good even if it is given for free," he said.

Trying to reach a ceasefire, Sorbillo suggested that for one evening, Briatore chefs prepare their pizzas side by side with Neapolitan chefs “to let customers enjoy the pizza they want, both traditional Neapolitan and pizza 'salted' 65 euros.
