Travel magazine published a list of European countries that offer the best quality of life, with particular emphasis on the balance between business and private obligations.
Luxembourg tops the list, while Austria and Denmark take second and third place.
The list was created based on criteria such as vacation duration, average number of working hours, sleep quality, life expectancy and overall life satisfaction.
Luxembourg is first thanks to its high standard of living and attractive benefits for workers. The system that provides older workers with additional days of annual leave is particularly important – workers over the age of 55 enjoy an average of 36 days of paid leave per year.
The average salary in the country is around five thousand euros, and more than two-thirds of residents own a vehicle, which further speaks to their financial stability. Although it has only 600,000 inhabitants, Luxembourg has become synonymous with the highest quality of life in Europe.
Austria and Denmark share common characteristics that make them desirable places to live and work – a minimum of 25 days of annual leave and well-regulated working conditions.
On the other hand, it is interesting that the United States of America is at the bottom of the list, in 87th place. The reason for this is the lack of legally guaranteed annual leave, which causes dissatisfaction and stress among many employees.
This list is a reminder of the importance of work-life balance, with Europe continuing to lead the way in providing conditions that enable a long and quality life.
