The Daily Mail has revealed the behind-the-scenes details of a heated clash between chefs at Windsor Castle and the US Secret Service during the lavish dinner hosted by King Charles III to welcome President Donald Trump to Britain.

This spectacular dinner saw Trump and his wife, Melania, seated at the royal table with King Charles, Prince William and Princess Kate, surrounded by dozens of top business leaders and diplomats from both sides of the Atlantic.

But as the 160 VIP guests enjoyed a three-course dinner in the refined surroundings of St George's Hall at Windsor Castle, tensions "downstairs" were beginning to boil.

Sources told the Daily Mail that members of the Secret Service team assigned to protect the US President entered the kitchen to supervise the preparation of food by the royal chefs - and even sampled the food - which some of the chefs felt was a disturbing intrusion into their work.

While the guests knew nothing, the atmosphere in the kitchen quickly became tense and the situation deteriorated when voices began to be raised between the kitchen staff and the American security agents.

"The dinner was a huge success in the hall, but backstage there was a scuffle. Tensions flared between the chefs preparing the meal and the American security team overseeing the protection of the President and his entourage. The chefs, who were trying to serve three courses perfectly, became frustrated when American agents constantly checked and even tasted the food," a source from Windsor Castle told the Daily Mail.

But Palace officials categorically denied the claims of a clash, calling them "completely untrue" and adding that relations with American colleagues were extremely warm and supportive throughout.

However, the Mail's source added: "What started as quiet annoyance escalated into a heated argument with loud voices on both sides."

"It took a few minutes for the blood to calm down and for the kitchen to return to its normal rhythm. The guests in the hall never understood what was happening, but in the kitchen it was impossible not to notice," he further emphasized.

Luxurious dinner menu:

The three-course dinner, which was written in French, included:

- Starter: Panna cotta with Hampshire rocket, with Parmesan biscuits and pigeon egg salad

- Main course: Organic Norfolk chicken wrapped in zucchini and a delicious thyme herb sauce

- Dessert: Vanilla ice cream in a bomb shape with Kent raspberry sorbet and poached plums

The table was decorated with 1,452 pieces of silver cutlery and five wine glasses for each guest.

Although Trump is known to abstain from alcohol – due to the death of his brother, Freddie, from alcohol at the age of 42 – guests had the opportunity to enjoy a special cocktail called the “Transatlantic Whiskey Sour,” which included Johnnie Walker, marmalade, pecan mousse and a roasted marshmallow on a cookie.

For state dinners at Windsor, the "head" of the 47-foot-long table sits in the middle. King Charles was next to Trump, who was the guest of honor, and also sat next to the Princess of Wales, whom he reportedly complimented several times.

Across from them was First Lady Melania, seated between Queen Camilla and the Prince of Wales. Television footage showed the royals and the Trump family having a good time, while being unaware of everything that was happening behind the scenes.
