Andy Byron's warm embrace with subordinate at Coldplay concert lands him in

A viral video taken during Coldplay's concert at Boston's Gillette Stadium has turned everyone's attention to two executives of a technology company, who were filmed in an intimate embrace, in what appears to have been an innocent moment, but with serious consequences.

On the stadium's giant screen, to the sounds of the legendary British band, cameras caught Kristin Cabot – the human resources director at the company “Astronomer” – hugging the company's CEO, Andy Byron. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin reacted humorously on stage: “Look at these two…”, as the crowd of 60,000 people burst into laughter. Cabot covered her face with her hand and turned away from the camera, while Byron ducked to hide. Martin added ironically: “Either they're having a secret affair… or they're really shy.”

The video, posted on TikTok late Wednesday, received over 50 million views in a matter of hours, sparking a storm of reactions on social media. Following the outcry, Astronomer released a statement on Friday announcing that the two executives had been temporarily suspended while an internal investigation is underway.

“At Astronomer, we are committed to the values and culture we have built since our founding,” the statement said. “Our leaders must be role models for others, both in behavior and responsibility.”

According to the Axios portal, Byron's delayed suspension was influenced by negotiations for his resignation and severance package from the company.

Social media was abuzz with memes and scathing commentary about the situation, and even false statements were made in the CEO's name, prompting even more backlash. One Etsy seller even created a T-shirt with the caption: "I took my girlfriend to a Coldplay concert and my life was ruined."

According to Muck Rack, in just 24 hours, over 22,000 articles were written about the Astronomer company and another 9,000 about Byron alone. Meanwhile, the Memo platform reported that over 15 million people had followed the news – a figure comparable to media lawsuits like the one involving P. Diddy or the clashes between Elon Musk and former President Trump.

Amid this viral storm, it is revealed that Kristin Cabot had previously boasted on LinkedIn about her ability to “earn the trust of CEOs.” She had praised Byron in her welcome post to Astronomer in November, noting that she “leads by example and earns the trust of employees at all levels.”

Byron had called Cabot "extraordinary".

Cabot appears to have divorced her husband Kenneth Thornby in 2022, according to Massachusetts marriage records. Meanwhile, Andy Byron's wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, removed her husband's last name from her Facebook profile before deactivating the account.

Byron has been the CEO of Astronomer since 2023 – a New York-based data technology platform that helps data teams bring mission-critical analytics, artificial intelligence, and software to life for companies.

Ironically, LinkedIn – a network known for its professionalism – was flooded with scathing comments using lyrics from Coldplay songs. One user wrote: “The lights didn’t guide Andy home…”

Grace Springer, the fan who filmed the moment, told The Sun she had no idea who the people who captured the footage were. She said she felt sorry for the situation and hoped the partners involved would “get through this and find happiness again.”
