The name of Shkodra Elektronik became known to most of us with the latter's participation in the "Song Festival 63".
The couple that makes up the band, Beatriçe Gjergji and Kolë Laca, stood out among the other participants of the Festival from the very beginning of the release of the competing songs for the unique style of their singing.
"Zjerm", the representative song of Shkodra Elektronik, received a quick and sensitive embrace from the public, a factor that ensured them the victory of "FiK 63" and the right to represent Albania in Eurovision.
But who is Shkodra Elektronike? Here's some information you didn't know about the duo that makes up this musical group:
1- Shkodra Elektronike is made up of two Albanian immigrants from Italy
Kolë Laca and Beatriçe Gjergji are two Albanian immigrants who grew up in the neighboring country of Italy, far from their home city, Shkodra.
Despite their different ages and life stories, the pair revealed that the goal of "finding a way to get home without buying a plane ticket" was common to them.
2- The musical genre that Shkodra Elektronike deals with is called "Post Immigrant Pop"
Shkodra Elektronike calls their group, formed by songwriter and producer Kolë Laca and singer and songwriter Beatriçe Gjergji, a "musical project".
The focus of their project's music is to bring back traditional Shkodra songs with a contemporary electronic music approach. (This is where the name of their project, "Electronic Shkodra", comes from.)
3- Shkodra Elektronike has 5 years of experience in the market
Their project began in 2019 and since then, the artists have performed at important national and international events.
In 2020, they released their first original song, "Ku e gjeta vedin", which also won the Special Prize at the annual Shkodra "Luleborë" Festival, followed by the release of the songs "Synin si qershia" and "Turtulleshë".
The song "E jemja nuse", composed by them and performed by Rezarta Smaja, won third prize at the "Song Festival 60".
In 2022, their project was selected by the Balkan music export "MOST" and currently Shkodra Elektronike is under the management of the Alt Orient company, which was founded in 2016, with the aim of "creating a home for alternative Eastern and African electronic music"./ Anabel.al
