Following his arrest on Saturday, July 5, by Swiss police at Zurich airport, a detention order has been requested for the well-known Albanian rapper Noizy.

The Zurich Cantonal Police Office announced on Monday that this action was taken at the request of the Zurich Prosecutor's Office for Serious Crimes, but as Watson reports, authorities have not provided any other details regarding his detention.

The prosecutor's office announced on Tuesday that the 38-year-old is charged with several different crimes.

A criminal case has been initiated against him and due to the nature of the investigation, Watson writes that authorities are not providing any further details regarding the case.

A security measure, detention, has also been requested against Noizy as a preventive measure. However, no such decision has been made so far. 

"Furthermore, the presumption of innocence applies until a final decision is rendered," Watson writes.

"The Albanian rapper had originally planned a performance at Rinora 4 in Rümlang. The musician has almost four million subscribers on Spotify. He is followed by over two million people on Instagram.

During his election campaign and after his successful re-election, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama also performed with Noizy on stage," writes Swiss media "Watson.ch".

Since Saturday, the rapper has been stranded in Switzerland, while his plans to present his new album live to an audience were thwarted at Zurich Airport, where he was arrested or barged in.

The event could not take place and all announcements have been removed from social media.
