40 years have passed since the movie "An officer and a gentleman" and 32 since "Pretty Woman", but for Richard Gere, 73 years old, time seems to have stopped.
Sky blue shirt, dark trousers and short white hair, the American actor, friend of the Dalai Lama and a devout Buddhist, guest of honor of the Magna Grecia Film Festival, really looks like a boy.
"A remake of 'Pretty woman'? Many years have passed since 1990 when the film was first released, but despite more than once the same director, Garry Marshall, has proposed a possible remake to me imagining strange developments, in the end nothing has been done ", says Gere.
"In the beginning, no one expected such a success, a film capable of creating such a form of identification. 'Pretty woman' was a spell, a form of love. I don't know why you fall in love with someone, but it happens," the gray-haired man emphasizes.
“I am already a dinosaur of the small screen and I am also happy to be one. On the other hand, I can't even remember the last time I went to the movies. And this is because of Covid-19, but not only", he concludes.
