Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez crowned their love with a spectacular wedding in Venice, one of the most romantic cities in the world. Amidst gondolas, historic palaces and world-famous guests, the event was immediately dubbed the "wedding of the century."
Organized over three days and in some of Venice's most iconic locations, it is said to have cost up to 48 million euros.
The figure, which would shock any average person, represents less than 0.01% of Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos' personal fortune of around $230 billion. In proportion, this is like the average European spending €23 on a night out at a pizzeria with their partner.
Lauren Sánchez surprised with 27 different dresses during the events, while the guests, from Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, to Leonardo Di Caprio, made up a golden list of stars.
The event was accompanied by tight security measures: flight bans, canal checks, isolated areas and the presence of armored forces. The city was transformed to protect the privacy of the couple and their guests from paparazzi and the curious.
According to a study by JFC, the total economic impact of the wedding for Venice is expected to be around 957 million euros, or roughly 70% of the city's annual tourism revenue. Italian Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè called it an opportunity to revive the sector after a slump in early 2025.
