This is the most sought-after profession in Europe

Europe needs drivers of heavy vehicles, especially trucks, today more than ever. The latest report from the International Road Transport Union 2023 predicts that by 2028 vacancies on the continent for this profession will reach around 745,000.

At the same time, the truck driving profession is also affected by an aging population, as evidenced by the fact that in Europe only 5% of drivers are under 25 years old. In an effort to revive transport companies, the European Union is promoting, among other things, the introduction of the possibility of granting a truck driver's license from the age of 17.

However, this initiative has caused many reactions and transport companies are trying to attract drivers from third countries. For example, Spain, in its bid to fill thousands of job vacancies, is preparing to launch a massive recruitment campaign aimed at attracting professional Moroccan drivers.

In particular, the road freight transport sector in Spain is expected to attract around 26,000 Moroccan drivers. Taking into account the fact that salaries will range from 1600 to 2000 euros (based on the experience of each manager), it is estimated that there will be thousands of applicants.

But this problem also exists in other countries beyond Europe. Japan appears to be following the same path, where a company has begun training people from Uzbekistan to fill vacancies. The company, taking advantage of the grammatical affinity between the Uzbek and Japanese languages, offers a language school in the city of Tsukuba and has a corresponding project in Uzbekistan.
