The Fairfax court in Virginia has acquitted Johnny Depp: Amber Heard's ex-wife has slandered. It is an overwhelming victory for the former 'Pirates of the Caribbean' who has not slandered his ex-wife.
The jury concluded that Heard slandered Depp in a 2018 Washington Post article, in which she wrote that she was "a public figure representing domestic abuse."
According to the trial panel Heard's allegations could not be substantiated.
The jury also stabilized the compensation for Depp by Amber who has to pay the ex-husband $ 15 million. But the victory's worth a lot to Hollywood, as Johnny has now been cleared of charges as a rapist, while Amber Heard turns out to be slanderous.
As the jury read the verdict, outside the courtroom Depp fans were celebrating.
Johnny Depp was not present in court while reading the verdict, as he was at a concert in England.
Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard after the latter in an article for the Washington Post in 2018 - where she described herself as a victim of domestic abuse - is slanderous and that Heard is the real abuser. Depp was seeking $ 50 million in damages. Heard's team's counterclaim seeks $ 100 million in damages.
