Former footballer reveals behind the scenes: Sicilian Mafia offered to

Former Argentine striker with an important past in Italy, Gonzalo Bergesio, has revealed a sensational behind-the-scenes story about the episode when Mauro Icardi took Maxi Lopez's wife. Wanda Nara left one player for another, with a story that made the rounds of the world for many years.

Bergesio, who was a teammate of Maxi Lopez in those years at Catania, has revealed that the latter had actually saved Mauro Icardi's life, after people involved in the Sicilian mafia had offered to "get rid of" the attacker who had kidnapped his wife.

"We were in Sicily and the boys were very excited there. They said to Max, 'Do you want us to go and look for that boy?'" Max replied, "No, no, stay calm." And this happened during the period when all the commotion was happening," said Bergesio, who explained that he had been present at this conversation.

He was then harassed more by reporters. "They said, 'Do you want us to execute him?'" the former footballer was asked.

"Yes, they wanted to go and find him," he continued, emphasizing that only Maxi Lopez had made it possible to avoid the great evil. "'No, no, calm down,' Maxi told them. Did he save Icardi's life? In the full sense of the word," Bergesio told the extraordinary story.
