A new Channel 4 documentary, titled "The Trial", has brought back to light the allegations that have been raised against Michael Jackson over the years, bringing together several previously unreleased audio recordings in which the pop star speaks in a very personal way about children.
The documentary series focuses on the period of Jackson's sensational trial and aims to shed light on aspects of the case through materials that, according to the authors, have not been made public to date.
In some of these recordings, the singer is heard making statements that are today considered disturbing, in the context of allegations of sexual abuse of minors.
In one of the audio clips, Michael Jackson is heard saying: "They want to touch me and hug me." "If you told me now: 'Michael, you'll never see children again,' I would kill myself."
In another recording he says that "kids just want to touch me and hug me", while at another point he says: "Kids end up falling in love with my personality. Sometimes that gets me into trouble".
The documentary places these statements in the context of the charges brought against Jackson, reopening the debate over his behavior and attitude towards minors.
