A week after the difficult abdominal surgery that Kate Middleton underwent, the scenarios about the health condition of the Princess of Wales are not stopping, since she is still not in the optimal condition to return home.

Kate remains in hospital following the operation on January 16 and will spend the next few months recovering, while her return to royal duties is not expected before Easter.

In fact, according to reports, she will even work from bed once she feels better, as no one within the royal family can be tasked with her share of the work for the palace.

Kate's health remains a closely guarded secret, with Buckingham Palace having to clarify whether or not it is related to cancer.

Why can't Kate come home?

Kate Middleton is reportedly still unable to return home. Speaking about her operation, a doctor hinted that her home is not suitable for the Princess's recovery and what she will need after such an operation.

The Princess of Wales will stay in hospital for around 10 to 14 days before returning to Windsor's Adelaide Cottage.

Robert Hardman, who wrote the recently released biography of King Charles III, spoke to Fox News Digital and noted that it is unusual for members of the royal family to give details about their health.

Meanwhile, King Charles appears to be worried about Kate's condition. Robert Hardman claimed that from the information that his sources within the Royal Palace have, it is said that Charles does not hide his concern for his son's wife.

The king wants Kate Middleton to step down from royal duties in the coming months so her recovery can be gradual.

"He's a big fan of hers. He worries more than anyone, except Prince William, about her. She's fit, she's young, and she'll be out of action for three months. I don't think anyone wants to put any kind of pressure on her," he said, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Meanwhile, a former patient who underwent abdominal surgery at the same private hospital as the Princess of Wales said the procedure "is a bit scary at first".

"Kate Middleton is in safe hands at the London Clinic. It was a very good experience. The best surgeons are at this particular clinic and are leaders in their field in both research and surgery. I had an excellent surgeon, everything was very efficient. I was in the operating room for two hours," says the former patient to People magazine.

The private clinic where Kate is being treated is the largest independent, private hospital in the UK, suitable for over 155 different operations.

“The nurses are simply outstanding and take care of the patients' needs. The hospital has very good staff and everyone is knowledgeable, sensitive and caring. Physiotherapists are great at helping you recover and get back on your feet. After abdominal surgery, you need a lot of patience and it's a little scary at first", the former patient further confessed.

Palace sources told People that Princess Kate is "doing well" after the successful operation, while Prince William was seen leaving last Thursday and is expected to put some engagements on hold to support his family during this time and live near their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis.
