Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are on a defamation lawsuit in a Virginia court, with the process resuming today.

Depp has sued Heard, his ex-wife, for $ 50 million in a 2018 article she wrote for The Washington Post, in which she described herself as a "public figure representing domestic abuse." Although Depp was not mentioned in the article, he claims it cost him profitable acting roles.

Both Heard and Depp, who met in 2009 and were married from 2015-2016, accuse each other of acts of physical violence during their relationship. Both have denied the other's claims.

The former couple decided to divorce in August 2016, issuing a joint statement stating: "Our relationship was very passionate and sometimes unstable, but always bound by love."

The trial, which began on April 11, will last six weeks. Heard has not yet testified. Depp began his testimony on April 19 and he is expected to continue to be questioned by Heard's lawyer on Monday.

Here are some of the ones that came out during his testimony so far.

Frequent arguments

Heard claimed in 2016 that Depp had been "verbally and physically abused" by her, according to a complaint she filed that year, claiming that Depp bruised his face after throwing a phone at their Los Angeles home. Depp denied the allegations and was not charged with any crime.

Depp testified on Tuesday that the couple often argued, but said: "I myself have never gotten to the point of hitting the lady in any way and I have never hit any woman in my life."

Audio recordings of some of their debates have been broadcast in court.

A severed finger

Depp testified that his finger was cut from broken glass in 2015 after Heard allegedly threw him a bottle of vodka. He sought medical attention but told the court he told others at the time that he had injured his finger by slamming it into a door.

“Pirates of the Caribbean”

While Depp's lawsuit focuses on the damage done to his once lucrative career, some conversations focused on "Pirates of the Caribbean," the well-known franchise that Depp directed for five films over 15 years. Rottenborn, Heard's lawyer, argued that Depp was aware that he was "likely out" of the sixth film or that Disney would remove or reduce his role in it, prior to the publication of Heard's writing. Depp denied this.
