On July 15, 1997, the global fashion industry was shocked by the tragic murder of Gianni Versace. The 50-year-old designer, one of the most iconic creators of his time, was murdered outside his luxury Miami home when serial killer Andrew Cunanan shot him in cold blood.

The shock was immense, not only for the fashion world, but also for his family, who were grappling with the loss of the man who had built the Versace empire. Gianni's 27-year-old killer had already committed four murders before executing the designer.

His motive for killing Versace remains unknown, as no note or other evidence was found to explain his act. After shooting the Italian fashion designer to death, Cunanan escaped and went into hiding for eight days. On July 23, 1997, he was found dead on a houseboat in Miami, having committed suicide with the same gun he used in his gruesome murders.
