"Big Brother" is a television reality franchise of the Dutch reality competition created by John de Mol, first broadcast in the Netherlands in 1999, and then broadcast internationally. The name is inspired by "Big Brother" from George Orwell's novel "Nineteen Eighty e Four", and the occupants of the house are constantly monitored during their stay at home by live television cameras, as well as personal audio microphones. Throughout the show, competitors vote (usually on a weekly basis) until there is only one left and it wins the cash prize.
