After winning the November presidential election, Donald Trump is expected to begin the process of selecting cabinet members and other senior officials of his administration in the coming weeks.
According to the Reuters agency, one of the names being considered for an important position is Richard Grenell, a close adviser to Trump on foreign policy issues.
Grenell, who served as the US ambassador to Germany and as interim director of National Intelligence during Trump's first term, has been one of Trump's closest foreign policy figures. A meeting last year with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also involved Grenell, highlighting his strong ties to foreign leaders.
However, his often unpredictable personality and close relationships with other politicians have made Grenell a controversial figure, and he may face challenges in the Senate for his confirmation to the important post.
Meanwhile, he is considered a strong candidate for the role of National Security Adviser, a position that does not require Senate approval, although he could take another post that would require confirmation.
