"Erdoganization and Orbanization of Greece was accomplished," said former Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis, in his first reaction to the results of the parliamentary elections, which placed his party, MeRA25, in eighth place, losing representation in Parliament. .
Varoufakis blamed the left's defeat on the leadership of SYRIZA, the party led by Tsipras, which two years ago rejected his offer to cooperate in the campaign. According to him, this rejection resulted in "an incredible tsunami of conservatism".
Referring to Prime Minister and New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Varoufakis said that "Mitsotakis Ltd served a crushing defeat".
Varoufakis said his party will carefully analyze the result.
"Whether you agree or not, you have to agree that the party's cohesive governing program is a really interesting and useful program, a contribution to the public dialogue," he noted, adding that the program will be reviewed and presented again.
Asked if he would cooperate with other parties in the next general election, Varoufakis said: "Under no circumstances. You know very well that during the elections there are no options for a program agreement - we have rejected short-term agreements from the beginning".
