Vučić: I did not betray Putin, I thank Ukraine for not recognizing Kosovo

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that he had very successful meetings in Odessa and thanked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for full respect for the UN Charter and the territorial integrity of Serbia, meaning here the non-recognition of Kosovo as well as the absence of representatives from Pristina at the Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit.

Vučić said this was a great gesture towards Serbia.

“We had very successful meetings here in Odessa. This is my fourth time participating in the South-Eastern Europe-Ukraine summit and my first time on Ukrainian territory. I thanked our Ukrainian hosts, President Zelensky, for respecting Serbia’s territorial integrity. As you saw, there was no representative of Pristina here.”

On the other hand, Zelensky also thanks Vučić for the initiative to rebuild Ukrainian settlements.

After talking with Vučić at the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit, Zelensky said on his Instagram account that it was a "really effective form of cooperation" and added that he was looking forward to positive results.

Vučić did not forget to quell rumors about his trip to Ukraine and reading it as a stance against Moscow.

He said that he did not betray Russia, as some media in Serbia claim, and that this was also shown by not signing the declaration condemning Russian aggression and abstaining from the summit.
